ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Hank Sanders

American Advisors Group

Hank Sanders began his career in financial services in 1986 with the Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Financial Consultant training program. Over the past several years, observing that there was a significant gap in many people’s savings relative to their retirement expectations, Hank began to expand his understanding on how to include real estate and home equity into his financial strategies. When he was approached by American Advisors Group to join the team that will be sharing this message and educating the industry on the strategic use of equity in a retirement income strategy, Hank knew he could make a far greater impact on the industry and potentially thousands of lives. Today, as a Strategic Business Specialist for AAG, Hank specializes in educating, supporting, and developing relationships with financial advisors.

Hank has held multiple Securities (7,63 and 65) and Insurance licenses. He is a Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS®) designee. He has extensive advanced planning and investment strategy training and has long history of teaching financial educational classes. Throughout his career, Hank has been involved in local Financial Planning Chapters and multiple State Banking Associations.

John Ruybalid, Reverse Mortgage Professional

John grew up in California, Venezuela, Brazil, New Mexico and Texas. He graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado before moving to Santa Fe. His first job was as a Fireman and Emergency Medical Technician for the City of Santa Fe. Since 1985, John has been originating residential mortgages in New Mexico, primarily in the Santa Fe area. For the last 13 years, he has been a Reverse Mortgage Professional originating reverse mortgage loans exclusively. Working with homeowners, 62 and older, to help them eliminate their conventional mortgage or help them access the equity in their home, has been the most gratifying work he has done. Making funds available to pay for in-home care, for travel, for home repairs or just to establish a line of credit as a part of a retirement plan are just some of the uses for which his clients have used their reverse mortgage loans.

John has been married to Christine for over 30 years and both their daughters are married. One lives in Pojoaque, New Mexico, and the other one lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Ron Chavez, Housing, HECM and Post-Purchase Counselor

Ron has over seven years’ experience as a housing counselor with the Housing Trust, and eleven years in the field. With over eighteen years of total lending experience, he offers expert advice for potential homeowners. Ron is also an AARP Certified Reverse Mortgage Counselor to assist seniors, and manages the Home Buyer Training program.
